Abilities Overview

Rengar's passive allows him to leap toward champions and monsters from brush or stealth, generating bonus ferocity. Ferocity stacks up to 4 points. At 4 stacks, Rengar's next ability becomes empowered. Q (Savagery) resets the auto timer and empowers the next auto, while empowered Q deals massive burst damage.

W (Battle Roar) deals AoE damage and heals for 50% of damage taken recently — empowered W removes CC and heals more. E (Bola Strike) slows and roots at max ferocity. R (Thrill of the Hunt) grants camouflage, reveals the nearest enemy champion, and provides a massive leap on the first attack — Rengar's primary assassination tool.

Jungle Pathing

Rengar's clear is healthy and fast. Start raptors or red buff, using leap resets on camps. The optimal clear: Q start, stack ferocity before leaping. Level 3 ganks are strong through brush — walk into lane brush, leap-Q-W for burst. Rengar's first clear should end around 3:15 with full HP.

Level 6 is Rengar's real spike. Use R to hunt the enemy ADC or jungler — the camouflage allows entry from any angle. The standard R combo: R to reveal target, leap from stealth, Q-W-E-Tiamat mid-air, then empowered Q for execute. Rengar snowballs extremely hard — one or two kills and he can one-shot any squishy.

Teamfighting

Rengar is a pick assassin — he doesn't teamfight well. Before fights, look for R picks on isolated targets. Use R to hunt the enemy carry while they're farming a side wave or rotating. Once the fight starts, wait for CC to be used, then R onto the backline.

Rengar's biggest weakness is entering fights after CC is used — if you get CC'd mid-leap, you die instantly. Against teams that group tightly, Rengar struggles significantly. In these situations, split-push and force the enemy to send someone to defend — that's your kill target.

Build Path

Start Hailblade with Refillable. Rush Eclipse for the shield and omnivamp. The Collector for execute. Lord Dominik's Regards for armor pen.

Edge of Night for spell shield. Guardian Angel for insurance. Youmuu's Ghostblade for roaming speed. Boots are Plated Steelcaps or Ionian Boots.

Matchups

Rengar excels against immobile squishies and isolated targets. He struggles against tanks who survive his burst and champions with true sight (Lee Sin, Morgana, Rengar's own R). Rengar is a feast-or-famine champion — if he doesn't snowkill, he's useless. Play aggressively early to snowball.
