Abilities Overview

Lulu's passive, Pix, makes her companion fire bolts at enemies whenever Lulu attacks — this contributes meaningful poke damage in lane. Q (Glitterlance) fires two skill shots that do reduced damage to secondary targets. The tricky part is that Pix fires a copy from wherever Pix is positioned, creating cross-angles that are hard to dodge.

W (Whimsy) has two forms: on allies, it grants massive movespeed and ability power; on enemies, it polymorphs them into a harmless critter that can't attack or cast spells. E (Help Pix) shields an ally or damages an enemy, then attaches Pix to them. R (Wild Growth) grows an ally champion, knocking up nearby enemies and providing a large health buff.

Laning Phase

Lulu is a strong lane bully. Use Q and auto attacks with Pix to poke enemies. E-Q combo is the standard poke pattern — shield yourself then Q from Pix's position for unexpected angles. W polymorph is excellent for disengaging enemy engages or setting up ganks.

Against engage supports (Leona, Nautilus, Alistar), polymorph their engage — a poly'd Leona can't follow up her E. Against poke supports (Lux, Xerath), trade aggressively with auto attacks. Lulu scales well into late game as a hypercarry protector.

Lulu is the ultimate carry protector. In teamfights, position near your ADC and save abilities for peel. W polymorph to stop divers, E for shield on your carry, R for knockup and HP when they get focused. The Lulu + hypercarry combo (Kog'Maw, Jinx, Twitch) is one of the strongest duos in the game.

Use Q for slow and vision rather than damage. Pix management is important — keep Pix on your carry for E shield uptime. R has a small AoE knockup that can interrupt channels (Katarina R, Miss Fortune R) — save it for critical moments. Against AoE comps, position spread from your carry to avoid both getting hit.

Build Path

Start Spellthief's Edge. Moonstone Renewer is the standard mythic for AoE heal/shield bounce. Ardent Censer provides attack speed and on-hit damage to shielded allies. Staff of Flowing Water gives AP and movespeed on heals and shields.

Redemption for the AoE heal active. Mikael's Blessing for CC cleanse. Chemtech Putrefier for anti-heal on heals and shields. Boots are Ionian Boots of Lucidity or Swifties.

Matchups

Lulu excels against engage supports by polymorphing their engage. She struggles against sustain lanes (Sona, Soraka, Nami) who out-poke and out-sustain her. Against mage supports (Brand, Zyra, Vel'Koz), play cautiously and prioritize shielding over poking.
