The Outlaw. Buckshot reload mechanic animation cancels, Smoke Screen vision denial, and Collateral Damage burst combo.
Jungle Marksman · The Outlaw.
Graves's auto attacks fire four bullets in a cone pattern. Critical strikes fire six bullets. Each bullet that hits the target deals reduced damage after the first. This unique auto attack pattern means Graves does maximum damage at melee range. His passive also grants stacking armor from hitting enemies with autos, making him increasingly tanky during fights.
Q (End of the Line) fires a powder charge in a line that detonates after 1 second or hitting a wall. Landing the return damage at the detonation is critical for burst. W (Smoke Screen) creates a zone that slows and obscures vision inside — devastating for enemy ADCs and mages who rely on vision. E (Quickdraw) is a dash that reloads one bullet and grants armor. R (Collateral Damage) fires a massive shot in a line that knocks Graves back — used both as execute and escape.
Graves is primarily a jungler in the current meta. His healthy clear speed and strong dueling make him one of the best early-game junglers. The standard clear is full 6 camps by 3:15, with a focus on maximizing auto-attack uptime between ability casts. Use E to reload and E-auto-Q-auto for maximum clear speed.
Ganks require setup due to Graves's lack of hard CC. Walk directly at the enemy, slow with W (Smoke Screen), and DPS them down with autos. Graves works best with laners who have their own CC. Counter-ganking is where Graves truly shines — his 2v2 and 3v3 dueling is among the best in the jungle pool.
Graves is a front-loaded damage dealer in teamfights. His combination of burst (Q-R-auto) and sustained DPS (E-auto-resets) makes him strong in skirmishes. Play around terrain for Q wall-bounces — hitting the return damage nearly doubles your output. Use Smoke Screen on the enemy backline to zone them from the fight.
Position aggressively but smartly — your E dashes can stack armor for durability. Against assassins, save E for dodging burst. Against tanky comps, prioritize stacking armor pen. R can be used both as an execute on low-HP targets and as an escape tool — the knockback creates distance when kiting backward.
Start with Hailblade and Refillable Potion. Rush Eclipse for the shield and omnivamp — the shield from spell procs is excellent for dueling. The Collector for lethality and execute synergy. Infinity Edge for 35% crit damage amplification on all autos.
Lord Dominik's Regards for armor pen against tanky comps. Guardian Angel for survivability. Maw of Malmortius against heavy AP. Boots are Plated Steelcaps or Mercury Treads. Essence Reaver for ability haste and mana sustain in extended fights.
Graves excels against melee-heavy jungle matchups where his auto-attack cone does maximum damage. He struggles against long-range control mages and heavy CC supports who can lock him down before he gets in auto range. Against champions like Lee Sin or Xin Zhao, the early 3-camp skirmish is crucial — whoever wins the first fight sets the pace.
