The Glorious Executioner. Spinning Axe juggling mechanics, Blood Rush attack speed steroid, Stand Aside CC, and Whirling Death global execute.
ADC Marksman · The Glorious Executioner.
Draven's Q (Spinning Axe) is the most mechanically demanding basic ability in League. After throwing an auto attack empowered by Spinning Axe, the axe lands at a predictable location marked by a glowing indicator. Catching the axe refunds the cooldown and keeps the damage steroid active. Juggling two axes simultaneously doubles your damage output and is the hallmark of skilled Draven players.
W (Blood Rush) grants massive attack speed and movespeed on a short cooldown that resets when you catch a Spinning Axe. E (Stand Aside) interrupts enemy dashes and pushes them to the side — a crucial CC for self-peel. R (Whirling Death) is a global execute that deals damage based on missing health and returns to Draven, applying the damage again on the return path.
Draven is the strongest early game ADC in League. At level 1, a Q-empowered auto with Press the Attack or Lethal Tempo chunks over 25% of the enemy ADC's HP. Look for early trades when your Spinning Axe is up. Coordinate with your support — engage supports like Leona, Nautilus, or Thresh pair perfectly with Draven's burst pattern.
Wave management is critical. Push aggressively to harass under tower, but beware of jungle ganks — Draven has no escape and is very vulnerable when pushed. Save E to interrupt enemy engages or jungle ganks. Post-6, look for all-in kills when R is up — the execute damage catches enemies off guard.
Draven teamfights differently from other ADCs. Rather than consistent DPS, he plays for burst — one-shotting priority targets with empowered autos and R. Save your axes by kiting backwards — catching an axe while running away maintains max damage output. Position aggressively when your support has engage tools available.
The biggest risk is overextending for axes. Dropping a rotation to catch an unsafe axe is better than dying for it. Use W resets to reposition between axe catches. Against assassins, save E to interrupt their engage — a well-timed Stand Aside can cancel a Zed R or Katarina R.
Start Doran's Blade. First recall aim for B.F. Sword — raw AD scaling is crucial for Draven. Immortal Shieldbow is the standard mythic for the shield and lifesteal. Collector is excellent for the execute synergy with R and the lethality scaling. Infinity Edge powers up all your damage by 35%.
Bloodthirster provides overwhelming sustain. Lord Dominik's Regards against tanks. Guardian Angel for survivability. Boots are Berserker's Greaves. Quickblades can be situationally strong for the ability haste on crit.
Draven wins lane against most ADCs due to his oppressive early damage. He struggles against Caitlyn (range advantage), Ashe (kite potential), and Ezreal (safe farming). Against poke lanes, all-in early before they can wear you down. Against engage supports, position behind minions and save E for their engage.
