The Steel Shadow. Precision Protocol true damage trades, Tactical Sweep lane sustain, and Hextech Ultimatum lockdown kills.
Top Lane Diver · The Steel Shadow.
Camille's Precision Protocol (Q) is her primary damage tool. The first cast marks the target, and the second cast deals massive true damage. Mastering the timing to wait for the enhanced second Q is crucial — it deals over 200% of the first Q's damage as true damage, ignoring all armor. Her passive, Adaptive Defenses, generates a shield based on the enemy's damage type — physical against melee, magic against ranged — making short trades incredibly efficient.
W (Tactical Sweep) is a cone attack that slows enemies at the tip and heals Camille based on damage dealt. Use it for poke, wave clear, and lane sustain. E (Hookshot) is her engage and escape tool — hook onto terrain, then dash to an enemy, stunning on impact. R (Hextech Ultimatum) creates an area where the target cannot escape, with dashes or flashes bouncing off the boundary.
In lane, Camille excels at short trades. Use your passive shield to win exchanges — engage when the shield is up for maximum efficiency. The ideal pattern: Q a minion for the movespeed buff, W to slow and heal, then E onto the enemy for a quick Q2 true damage combo, then disengage before they can retaliate. Your level 2 spike with Q and E is one of the strongest in the top lane.
Against ranged opponents, play safe and use W to farm from distance. Look for all-ins when your jungler comes — E is a powerful gank setup tool. Post-6, Hextech Ultimatum guarantees a kill if your jungler is nearby. Control wards in the river are essential — Camille is vulnerable to ganks when E is on cooldown.
Camille is a diver who excels at picking off isolated targets. Unlike traditional front-to-back fighters, she seeks flanks and dives the backline. Your job is to identify the enemy carry and remove them from the fight with R. Hextech Ultimatum is also extremely effective against enemy tanks — locking a tank down while your team collapses wins fights.
Positioning matters: wait for the enemy to use key CC abilities before engaging. Use terrain for E engages or follow up on your support's engage. In teamfights, you can use E to escape after using R, leaving the trapped enemy isolated. This "R + E out" pattern is a hallmark of high-level Camille play.
Start Doran's Blade. Rush Sheen for the spellblade passive — the bonus damage procs on Q make every trade meaningful. Divine Sunderer is the standard mythic against tanky teams, while Trinity Force offers better damage against squishy compositions. Ravenous Hydra is essential for waveclear and sustain, allowing Camille to split-push effectively.
Second item options: Blade of the Ruined King against HP-stackers, or Sterak's Gage for survivability. Death's Dance provides delayed damage and healing, while Guardian Angel keeps you in the fight. Boots are Plated Steelcaps against AD or Mercury Treads against AP/CC.
Camille wins skill matchups where she can control the trade distance. She struggles against Renekton and Darius who out-trade her early, and against Jax who counters her auto-attack pattern post-6. Against hard matchups, play for scaling — Camille outscales most top laners as the game progresses.
