Mid Lane Assassin · The Tidal Trickster.

Abilities Overview

Fizz's Q (Urchin Strike) dashes through the target, applying on-hit effects and dealing magic damage. It applies both melee-range effects and can be used to gap close through the target. His W (Seastone Trident) empowers his next auto with bonus magic damage and grievous wounds, then causes the target to bleed over time. The active resets on target death, making waveclear smooth.

E (Playful Trickster) is the defining ability — Fizz hops onto his trident, becoming untargetable, then slams down in an area. The hop can be reactivated early to land immediately at a targeted location. This ability dodges everything from auto attacks to tower shots to ultimate abilities. R (Chum the Waters) throws a fish that grows larger with distance — the bigger the fish, the more damage and the wider the knockup area.

Laning Phase

Fizz's early laning is weak — he struggles to farm against ranged mages before level 3. At level 1, let the enemy push and farm with W under tower. Level 2 (Q+W) gives moderate trading potential. Level 3 (Q+W+E) is a massive powerspike — look for a trade using Q-W-aa-E away pattern, taking minimal damage from the enemy retaliation.

Level 6 is where Fizz becomes a threat. A well-aimed R from distance creates a massive fish that knocks up and slows for 2 seconds — follow with Q-aa-W-E for the kill. Against poke mages (Xerath, Vel'Koz), all-in at level 3 and force them to respect your kill pressure. Against assassins (Zed, Talon), the player with better E timing wins.

Teamfighting

Fizz is a cleanup assassin who dives in after the fight starts. Unlike sustained mages, Fizz waits for the enemy to use key CC abilities, then W-Q-aa-E onto the backline. His goal is to kill the enemy carry and escape with E. Save E for critical ability dodges rather than damage.

R can be used to zone areas in choke points or to fish for picks before a fight starts. Protobelt active helps gap close without using E. After the initial burst, play cautiously while cooldowns come back — Zhonya's Hourglass is essential for stasis during E downtime.

Build Path

Start Doran's Ring with two health potions. First recall aim for Dark Seal and boots. Hextech Rocketbelt provides gap close and magic pen. Lich Bane is essential for burst — the spellblade proc after Q or E deals massive damage. Zhonya's Hourglass is near-mandatory for the stasis active that synergizes with E timing.

Rabadon's Deathcap for AP scaling. Void Staff against magic resist. Banshee's Veil against heavy AP. Mejai's Soulstealer when snowballing. Boots are Sorcerer's Shoes. Shadowflame for bonus damage against low-HP targets.

Matchups

Fizz excels against immobile mages who rely on skill shots (Xerath, Lux, Vel'Koz, Brand). He struggles against champions who can survive his burst (Galio, Kassadin) or lock him down before he uses E (Lissandra, Malzahar). Against hard matchups, roam bot lane for kills and scale through assists.
