Akali

Abilities Overview

Akali's power comes from her Q (Five Point Strike), a fan-shaped ability that slows enemies at the tip and deals heavy damage. Mastering the tip range is essential — hitting max-range Qs allows for safe poke and sets up energy-efficient trades. Her passive, Assassin's Mark, creates a ring around enemies damaged by abilities — exiting the ring empowers her next auto attack with bonus range and magic damage.

W (Twilight Shroud) drops a smoke cloud that makes Akali invisible, grants movement speed, and restores energy. Smart shroud placement controls vision and creates 1v1 kill zones. E (Shuriken Flip) is a two-part ability that dashes backward and throws a shuriken — recasting dashes to the shuriken's location, setting up devastating R combos.

Laning Phase

Akali has a weak early game (levels 1-3) against most matchups. Play safe and farm with Q from range. At level 4-5, look for short trades using Q tip + passive empowered auto. Your major power spike is at level 6 with R (Perfect Execution) — two dashes that deal magic damage based on missing health for the second cast.

Use W aggressively when going for kills — the stealth forces enemies to waste abilities guessing your position. Against ranged matchups, use E to close the gap and follow with Q + passive for a clean trade pattern.

Teamfighting

Akali excels at flanking and diving enemy backlines. Wait for the fight to start and key CC to be used before entering. R onto the enemy ADC or mage, drop W to create confusion, then weave Q and passive autos for maximum damage. The second R cast executes low-HP targets.

Be patient with your engage timing — going in too early means getting CC'd and killed. Use Zhonya's Hourglass active to survive burst while waiting for cooldowns. Akali's power in teamfights comes from her ability to create chaos and zone multiple enemies with her shroud.

Build Path

Start Doran's Shield against poke lanes or Dark Seal with refillable for aggressive play. First recall should aim for Hextech Alternator. Hextech Rocketbelt is the standard mythic, providing engage, burst, and mobility. Sorcerer's Shoes are essential for magic penetration.

Second item Zhonya's Hourglass is almost mandatory for dive safety. Shadowflame provides excellent burst against squishy targets. Late game, Rabadon's Deathcap maximizes your AP scaling. Mejai's Soulstealer is a snowball item — buy it when ahead and keep stacks by playing safe with shroud.

Matchups

Akali struggles against champions who can reveal her in shroud (Lee Sin, Karma) or lock her down with point-and-click CC (Ryze, Lissandra, Malzahar). She excels against immobile mages and carries who lack escape tools. Against tough matchups, consider Fleet Footwork instead of Electrocute for sustain.
