Viktor Abilities Overview
Viktor's unique Hex Core upgrade system evolves one of his basic abilities each time you upgrade: first upgrade enhances Death Ray (E) with a follow-up explosion, second upgrade enhances Gravity Field (W) with bonus movement speed, third upgrade enhances Siphon Power (Q) with a shield and movespeed. Siphon Power (Q) fires a projectile that shields Viktor and empowers his next auto-attack. Gravity Field (W) creates a slow zone that stuns enemies who remain inside. Viktor Laning Phase
Viktor is a safe scaling laner who focuses on wave clear and farm. Use Death Ray (E) to clear waves from distance and poke the enemy laner. Focus on CS and hex core upgrades rather than aggressive trades early. Level 1 upgrade (1,000 gold) is a major power spike — your E becomes much stronger. Ward side brushes and save W for gank disengage. Against assassins (Zed, Fizz, Ekko), respect their all-in and freeze near tower. Viktor Teamfighting
Viktor is a zone-control battle mage who excels in chokepoint fights. Pre-fight, use Death Ray to poke and soften targets. Gravity Field is your primary zone tool — place it on key chokepoints or on your carries against divers. Chaos Storm should be used on clustered enemies for maximum damage; you can move the storm to track fleeing targets. Viktor's biggest weakness is mobility — position carefully and save Flash for escapes. Against dive-heavy comps, hold W for peel and use R on yourself to zone divers. In sieges, E clears waves instantly.
Viktor Build Path
Core items for Viktor include Luden's Echo for burst and mana sustain, Sorcerer's Shoes for magic penetration, and Rabadon's Deathcap for massive AP scaling. Zhonya's Hourglass is essential against AD assassins. Void Staff is mandatory against MR-stacking teams. Lich Bane synergizes with Q's empowered auto-attack for burst. Banshee's Veil for spell shield against engage mages. Upgrade hex core at 1,000 gold (first back) and second upgrade around level 9-11. Viktor Matchups
Viktor excels against immobile control mages (Orianna, Anivia, Syndra) where his superior wave clear provides priority. He struggles against mobile assassins (Zed, Fizz, Yasuo) who can dodge his E and jump on him. Against artillery mages (Xerath, Ziggs), Viktor needs to manage his mana carefully to match their poke. Viktor pairs well with comps that provide frontline and CC to allow his R and W to land effectively. In late game, Viktor outscales most mid laners with his full hex core upgrades.
