Abilities Overview
Blitzcrank's Q (Rocket Grab) is the most iconic hook in League of Legends. It pulls the first enemy hit to Blitzcrank, setting up kills for the ADC. Mastering hook prediction and mind games is essential. W (Overdrive) grants burst movement speed and attack speed.
E (Power Fist) empowers the next auto attack to knock up the target — use it after grabbing for extended CC. R (Static Field) silences all nearby enemies and deals damage. The passive silence is devastating against mobile champions.
Laning Phase
Blitzcrank dominates the laning phase through hook pressure alone. The threat of a grab zones enemies away from minions. Look for hooks when enemies step up to last-hit. Use W to close distance before E knockup.
Level 2 power spike with Q+E is deadly. Coordinate engages with your ADC's cooldowns. If you miss hooks, play safe — Blitzcrank is weak when his abilities are on cooldown. Roam mid after pushing waves.
Teamfighting
Blitzcrank's role is to catch an enemy out of position. Hook the squishiest target you can reach — deleting a carry before the fight starts is a 5v4 advantage. Use R silence to interrupt channeled ultimates.
Peel for your ADC by hooking divers away. In chaotic fights, look for priority targets rather than tank hooks. A late-game hook on the enemy ADC or mid laner can win the game.
Build Path
Start Relic Shield. Core items include Evenshroud for damage amplification on grabbed targets, Locket of the Iron Solari for team shield, and Zeke's Convergence for ADC synergy. Dead Man's Plate for mobility.
Frozen Heart against attack-speed comps. Force of Nature against heavy AP. Knight's Vow to protect carries. Boots are usually Mobility or Mercury Treads depending on enemy CC.
Matchups
Blitzcrank excels against immobile supports (Sona, Janna, Soraka) and ADCs without dashes (Jinx, Ashe, Kog'Maw). He struggles against high-mobility enemies (Ezreal, Lucian, Zeri) and supports who can block hooks (Braum, Yasuo, Tahm Kench).
